Linear Algebra provides essential tools used throughout mathematics and the sciences, with especially prominent applications in data science (e.g., compression, learning, and network analysis). Because the basic objects are easy to describe and visualize, the course is also an excellent setting to practice proof-writing and precise mathematical communication.
This section uses a flipped classroom format: students watch short lecture videos outside of class and work collaboratively on problems during class time. Assessment uses mastery-based grading: students demonstrate mastery of specific topics, with multiple opportunities to earn credit until each topic is mastered.
Most course business will be handled on the Canvas site.
